Understanding Your Pipeline

Your pipeline is a visual representation of your sales process. It helps you track where each potential customer (opportunity) is in their journey from first contact to closed deal.

What is an Opportunity?

An opportunity represents a potential sale or deal. Each opportunity contains:

  • Contact Information: The person or business you're working with
  • Pipeline Stage: Where they are in your sales process
  • Value: The potential value of the deal
  • Status: Open, Won, Lost, or Abandoned

Pipeline Stages

Your pipeline is divided into stages that represent steps in your sales process. Common stages include:

  • New Lead - Initial contact made
  • Contacted - You've reached out to the prospect
  • Qualified - The lead is a good fit for your services
  • Proposal Sent - You've sent a quote or proposal
  • Negotiation - Discussing terms
  • Won/Lost - Deal closed

Tips for Success

  • Update stages regularly: Move opportunities through stages as they progress
  • Add notes: Keep track of important conversations and next steps
  • Set follow-up tasks: Never let an opportunity go cold
  • Review weekly: Check your pipeline regularly to identify stalled deals
